Alliance of Filipinos for Immigration Rights and Empowerment
Web Design & Development
The Alliance of Filipinos for Immigration Rights and Empowerment (AFIRE) is an organization that aids, educates, and advocates for Filipino immigrants. They are especially involved with establishing domestic workers’ rights and providing resources to low-income Filipino immigrants and families. They offer a variety of services to their members such as teaching English as a second language, budgeting workshops, obtaining citizenship, and job training. AFIRE also supports other Asian American organizations in Chicago and has a strong presence in the Filipino community.
I am the lead web designer and developer of AFIRE. I have been brought on board to help with the redesign of the current website. My goal is to recreate AFIRE’s website from scratch, enhance design layout, establish style consistency, improve mobile friendliness, and appeal to almost all audiences using modern mobile design practices. The web design layout is complete and the development stage is still in progress. I am also mentoring a junior designer that is aiding in the development of the website.
